That Was the Week that Was
Stableford, roll-ups and a three club challenge
Men’s Midweek Stableford

Congratulations to Hugh Bett coming in with a highly credible 41 points and winning from Rob Hillman and Dermot Doherty on 40 and 39 respectively.

Luis Fernandez had the best gross with a round of 75

The first hole played the easiest at an average of 0.86 over par and, as always, tenth the hardest at 1.79 over.

Friday Roll-up

There were 27 players this week. So far, after four weeks, there have been 66 different players entering. This weeks winner was Ian Stidworthy with 41 points, Grant Elner was second with 39 and Charlie Browning and David Cotterell joint third with 37.

The next Roll-up will be on 23rd May, due to Captain’s Charity Day, Spring Meeting & course maintenance.

Three Club and a Putter

Many thanks to Member for Social Activities, Gary Norman, for another great initiative and his write up

”A big thank you to those members who attended the first 'Fun Friday' 9-hole golf event + BBQ, the 3 club and a putter challenge. The results were as follows, in 3rd place was Mike Hanak with 18 points, 2nd with 20 points was Emilion Gardeta, with 1st place going to John Miles also with an eye catching 20 points, winning on countback from Emilion, maybe they should both use 4 clubs on a regular basis!
Each received a bottle of champagne for their efforts.

The BBQ incidentally was delightful, so thank you Chef, and I hope to run a few more of these late Friday afternoon, fun events, throughout the Summer, so watch this space.”

Many congratulations John, with whom the newsroom caught up with post win. John’s three club selection was 7 wood; 8 iron and sand wedge. He liked the choice so much that he played the same three clubs in his second round Stephenson the next day against David Taylor and lost 5 & 4! Hat’s off, John, excellent courage of conviction!

Sunday Roll-up

Fifteen Members joined the later Sunday afternoon roll up today, the first group following immediately behind four paying guests (who raved about the course), they themselves were first group out behind the scratch amateur golf society.

The course was in immaculate condition and the sun was shining, but with two club matches also out in the field, it was a long old day! Only one 2 carded for the day by David Ford. In third place, on count back from Jeremy Glanville-Jones, congratulations to John Inglis who has recently emerged from winter retirement!   All were thrilled to see Andrew Willson back for his first game after major back surgery, easing in to second place with a solid 36 points.

Taking the honours, and cleverly avoiding a handicap cut with a tidy 37 points, huge congratulations go to JP, aka Johnathan P. Sherman.

That’s All Folks!
