RBGS 155 – Bruntsfield Links GS 78 !!!

Pretty resounding result from the 146 members who took part in the Grand Match last Saturday. RBGS now lead 7-2 in the 5 yearly series, which was first played during our 250th anniversary in 1985. Well done to everyone involved and hope you all enjoyed what was a really fab day.

Not such a good result yesterday at Killermont against Glasgow Golf Club; think the hosts hospitality got the better of us! (4.5-1.5). Nonetheless another great day with 4/5 members being involved in one of our best social fixtures for the first time. These matches are open to everyone, played off handicap and are generally more about the social side; so please feel free to show interest for future fixtures.

Since the last blog the Society played and lost to Bruntsfield (away) and we have had the Councils dinner to the outgoing Captain, Martin Blencowe. First outing of the new red jacket for me and attended by council, past captains and Senior management. A really great evening, delayed to give Piotr and the kitchen staff a chance to show off from their new facility.

The Victoria Day competition yesterday was won by Ian Jeffery with an amazing net 63 (Gross 75) on a firm dry course in biting east wind…..I think a few of the hardy short wearers were regretting their choice of clothing! The Scratch gold medal was won by Alan Ker with an equally impressive gross 69.

Fingers crossed the good weather hangs in there for the Spring Meeting on Saturday….good luck to all that are playing!
