Danum Cup 2025 – Men’s Competition Summary
Date: Saturday, 7th June 2025
Venue: Doncaster Golf Club

The countdown is over as the Danum Cup 2025 prepares to tee off this Saturday at Doncaster Golf Club. This long-standing annual competition will once again see a fiercely contested battle between the men’s teams from Doncaster, Wheatley, and Doncaster Town Moor Golf Clubs.

*The team selection scoring process ends today.

Each club will field a team of 8 players, made up of:
• 4 players with a WHS Index of Plus or better
• 4 players with a WHS Index of 7.4 or higher

The format will be a stroke play medal round, with gross scores recorded by all competitors. The team score will be the total of all 8 gross scores. In the event of a tie, the teams will discard their worst individual scores one by one until a winner is determined.

Players will compete in three balls, with one player from each club per group. Competitors will be grouped by handicap, with lower and higher handicappers playing together accordingly. All players will play from the competition tees.

An adjudication panel—with one representative from each club—will be in place to handle any rulings or disputes in accordance with the Rules of Golf.

Following the round, Doncaster Golf Club will host a post-match meal for all competitors. Club Captains, Secretaries, Presidents, Professionals, and the adjudication panel are also invited to attend. The Danum Cup will be presented to the winning team as soon as the final result is confirmed.

We look forward to a day of high-quality golf, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. Good luck to all players representing their clubs with pride.

Danum Cup 2025 – Ladies’ Competition Summary
Date: Saturday, 7th June 2025
Venue: Doncaster Golf Club

The Ladies’ Danum Cup 2025 returns this Saturday at Doncaster Golf Club, promising another exciting contest between the talented ladies’ teams from Doncaster, Wheatley, and Hickleton Golf Clubs. First played in 2008, this annual event has become a highlight of the local golfing calendar.

Each club will be represented by a team of 8 players (plus reserves), drawn from four handicap divisions:
• Plus to 10.4
• 10.5 to 18.4
• 18.5 to 23.4
• 23.5 to 30.4
Two players are selected from each division to ensure balanced representation across the handicap range.

The format is 18-hole stroke play off scratch, played in accordance with the R&A Rules of Golf and WHS. All players will compete in three balls, with one representative from each club per group, playing from medal tees and in handicap order.

Once all scores are recorded, the highest score from each half of the handicap range will be discarded, leaving the best six gross scores to count towards the team total. In the event of a tie, the lowest eliminated scores will be used to break the tie. If still level, the trophy will be shared.

No handicaps will be displayed on the results board, and competitors are reminded that Professional or Assistant Professional caddies are not permitted. Buggies may be used if medically required.

Two additional Best Gross prizes will be awarded – one in the Plus to 18.4 category and one in the 18.5 to 30.4 category.

A post-match meal will follow the competition, and all players are expected to attend. The winning team will be presented with the Danum Cup by the Lady Captain of the host club.

We wish all players an enjoyable and competitive day, played in the true spirit of the game.
