John opened with a five-over par 75. He was out in a one-under par 35, with birdies at the first and second holes with a bogey on the difficult par-4 seventh. He returned in a 6-over par 40 which included a triple bogey at the tenth.
Alex carded a stroke better 74, with an outward 39 and a back nine of 35. Alex was tied with La Moye’s Charlie Kiberd who would eventually finish in third place.
Round of the morning went to La Moye’s Richard Ramskill, as he cared a level par 70, which was outstanding considering the blustery south westerly wind. Richard was two-under par going out with birdies at the first and ninth holes. His back nine score of 36, included no birdies and two bogeys. Unfortunately, Ramskill could not continue his fine form of the morning and carded an 82 in the afternoon to secure fourth place overall.
Out of the top three in the morning Alex was first in in the afternoon and carded a superb 72 – two-over par. It could have been better as he was four-under after six holes with birdies at the first, third, fifth and sixth holes. But bogeys at the seventh and ninth undone some of the excellent work. His back nine included four single bogeys for his 72.
Kiberd, playing with Ramskill, completed another round of 74 to secure third place and all eyes were now on Ozard, to see if he could dispose Guelpa, the clubhouse leader. Josh started solidly with 6 pars in a row, but a double bogey came at the tough seventh and he finished the front nine with two more pars for 38.
His back-nine included a bogey 5 at the twelfth but birdies at the fourteenth and the final hole, meant he carded a one-over par 71 to finish tied with Guelpa on 146 but, with an 18-hole countback in operation to determine the winner, Josh lifted the trophy.
