Captains Monthly Round Up
Dear fellow members
3 months in and the fun just continues , and the occasional grey hair , I know I haven’t got many!
It has been a great month for the club all in all with scratch team , mid handicap , club , juniors and ladies competing well.
Today I had the pleasure of watching some of the new crop of players battling in the junior open today , oh to have that flexibility , and it was great too see the Millbrook contingent doing so well with Ollie Clark shooting a very good 76 off the whites in tough conditions , a net 69 won the trophy by one shot. Well done to all participating and to the junior section for putting on a fantastic event.
The club has been extremely busy through the hot spell and the greenkeepers prayed for rain, we have finally got some and hope that will help with growth. As always, the course team are doing an amazing job. The F and B team are also working tirelessly to ensure we are fed and watered.
Socially the events continue to be a sell out with the Pop quiz being the latest , good fun but the eventual winners Contenders ran away with it at the end , it was also good to celebrate a couple of birthdays on the night. The key to the door was yet again not opened leaving 37 keys left in the drawer and one lucky winner to be found, not quite euro millions but still good fun.
Next up for John is the first Friday BBQ night , keep an eye out on the Screens for the details , should be fun.
Charity wise events are coming thick and fast with the latest being the Jurassic walk of which you may have seen on all of our social media, personally it was a great event with great guys raising money for a great cause and raising the odd glass or 2 along the way, the total for that event alone is currently sitting at nearly £14k, absolutely over the moon and thankful to of the 200 plus donators, it means a lot.
Our total at the moment is somewhere around the £19k mark , the charity are extremely excited by all the activity in and around the club so pat yourselves on the back.
Plug time for me , Charity Day has now got my full attention , 19th July a date for your diary find your team and sign up when the sheets go up please, we are hoping that the weather will be with us and we have a full days entertainment planned including a band in the evening. Lots of amazing raffle prizes will be up for grabs as well as some great auction lots. Golf is the name of the game though and there will be plenty of decent prizes on offer as well as spot prizes. We are looking to max out on hole sponsorship and therefore if there are any companies out there that we have not directly approached yet please talk to myself , rob or john who will be happy to take your details. Let’s make it a memorable day and night for the whole family. Full details will be posted on social media , the screens up the club and posters.
Thanks for all your support so far it has been helpful and getting to know new and old members has left me needing 2 more notepads to try and remember names!
