James Ruth is Pro-Am winner
New professionals course record set on way to win
James Ruth of MiGolf is the winner of the 2025 Avocet Wealth Partnership Pro-Am held at East Devon Golf Club.
The course was set up perfectly for the competition by Paul and the team and, if the fast running fairways and greens weren’t enough of a challenge a strong and gusty westerly wind made conditions even more testing.
James set a new professional’s course record with his winning score of two under par, 68. This bettered the score of 69 set earlier in the day by last years winner, Ashley Mansell of Clevedon Golf Club. Jamie Clare (Long Sutton Golf Club) was third on 71.
In the team competition, the team of Malcolm Baker, Rosie Baker, Andy Procter and pro Adam Curtis (Bude and North Cornwall) retained their trophy with 90 points, two better than second placed John Spiller-Jones, Phil Callard, James Pickard and pro Ashley Mansell. The women’s team of Janet Lambert, Judith Page, Sally Rex and pro Jack Pope (Exeter Golf & Country Club) were third with 83 points.
There were many great comments about the course and refreshments and thanks go to everyone who helped make the day such a success, Greens, House, Office, Pro shop, volunteers and of course all the event and hole sponsors.
