Following coffee, tea, bacon rolls and rolls & sausage in the Dormy House the draw was announced with three matches on the Kings Course and three matches on the Queens Course. Both courses were in good condition and the team skippered by Graham McDonald was quietly confident after a 3.5 to 2.5 win at Killermont in 2024.
Meeting at the Halfway House it was clear Glasgow had work to do in the respective back nines. Game 1 on the Kings triumphed 4&3 but as competitors got to the 18th hole on both courses it became clear Dun Whinny GC had won all the other matches. Final result Dun Whinny GC 5 Glasgow GC 1.
We enjoyed first class hospitality in the Dormy House with the matches played in great spirit where according to Dun Whinny GC’s website “members are invited to play in various matches against our friends at some of the best clubs in Scotland.” It was on this basis our Past Chairman Clive Miquel who is also a Past Captain of Dun Whinny GC helped initiate this match several years ago.
There is always next year!
