The men’s Over 55 team hosted Warley Park and enjoyed a resounding victory 10-1, and have now progressed to the quarter-finals. There were wins for Murray Northover, Chris Hemingway, Steve Paul, Alan Keyte, Gary Chisnall, Adrian Joshua, Steve Powell, Wayne De’ath, and Malcolm King. Bill Burns and Roger Deeble halved their matches.
Frinton were also at home in another men’s county competition, entertaining Belfairs in the Jubilee Cup. Geoff Pigott stood in as a last minute replacement, and he and Andy Hockey only lost their fourball better ball match one down. Frinton secured a vital win 6.5 to 2.5, and they now await news of their further progress in the event. Captain John Warwick and Carl Rulton comprehensively won their fourball match 7 and 6.
There was a tight battle in the June Friday Stableford, with Paul Tanner winning on countback from Gill Wilson and Peter Smith, all scoring 40 points.
The ladies contested the Flateau Cup in very changeable weather, and the clear winner with nett 66 was vice-captain Sandra Balderston. Louise Wood was the runner-up on 70, with Michelle Lawton third (72).
The ladies Bronze team played The Heron at home on Thursday in almost every weather condition - brisk chilly winds, sharp rain showers and then glorious warm sunshine. The match was played in good spirit with Frinton’s Ladies securing yet another solid 3-2 victory.
The juniors played away at The Essex in the return of last week’s Youth Shield fixture, but this time the result was reversed, Frinton losing 2-3 with wins for Dan Jiggens and Tyler Diplock.
