Geeza Takes Top Honour By 1
Daily prizes listed in another post
Fellas,
For those of you that were at the Club Champs you will be aware that I have recently adopted a little lad called Logan. Mr Captain spoke some nice words in his presentation speech, thank you for that Mr Captain. This has hindered my reporting of comps slightly, juggling a 2 year old and organising the comps has been a new challenge. I will do a brief report on Club Champs and list the winners of other comps below.
Well what a weekend we had weather wise for our big event. Yes, a little too hot for some but we did still get 73 players taking to the field. With the severe heat there was always a knock effect on the greens. I know they were not cut how they had been recently but ironed twice daily hopefully ensured a smooth roll and still a decent pace for the weekend.

Onto our winner, having known this guy before playing golf, yes he was as loud on the football pitch as he is after a few pints. A really good guy, having come so close a few times in this event and many other majors, he earned himself the name of “the bridesmaid” among many. However, that did not stop him trying. Shooting level par off the back tees, an outstanding score on day 1, he put himself firmly in the lead by 5 shots over 2nd placed Dave Edward’s. The final group made up by another former champ Gary Cottiga. This made a tasty 2nd day to follow.

Many outside on the hill seeing the final groups come in, last years champ, James Picariello shooting a good score of 76, many stood wondering if “the geeza” had the bottle to get the title he wanted so bad. The final group walk up the hill, patting Graham on the back. Not knowing that his score of 83 meant that he had taken the win by 1 shot over hopeful James Picariello. The relief / smile on the Geezas face was one many were happy to see when Big Gaz Cotts told him he had won by 1. A nice moment when father and member Dave, gave his son a big hug.

Well done Smalls mate, really chuffed for you. Name etched into that board forever now mucker. Well played to Pico as well, great effort to claw back to 1 shot.

Along side the Club Champs runs the Nett champion. This now falls under the new rules of the major qualifying criteria and max handicap allowance. Taking the win for nett champion is regular comp playing member and Wychwoods answer to Andy Carroll, Mr Jonno Mullarkey. Winning by 3 shots over Dan Brizell. Well done Jonno, know one more than you was surprised when your name was called up by the Captain to collect your prize. Nice work mate.

Well played to all that competed in the 2 day event off the back pegs, a challenge that many fear but once you do it you gain a sense of satisfaction.

Daily’s prizes for the 2 days gross and nett will be listed in another post. These are like normal MRC medal prizes and same criteria applies to be able to win these. So some newer members may have snook a prize.

As the system only allows me to put so much in I will do a separate one for all the remaining comp prizes, they are, CC Daily’s, Roseville, Mid week 4&5, MRC Rnd 5.

Cheers

Tom
