Course Hydration
At the start of the week the greens received a fertiliser application which will release the required nutrients over the coming 6-8 weeks, this will ensure the plant has the required nutritions and doesn’t get to stressed out during this heat spell which could potentially bring on disease if nutrition and moisture is low and the plant is therefore stressed. The fertiliser has washed in well and towards the back end of the week we have been hand watering to keep on top of moisture levels and reducing any dry patch’s on the greens and any fairy rings that could turn hydrophobic. We use our moisture meter on a regular basis looking for VMC numbers of about 25%, this is enough moisture for the plant to keep hydrated during this heatwave as we are currently losing between 4-6mm evapotranspiration rates per day so we are in a massive deficit until we get substantial rainfall so anything below that number will very quickly dry out.
