Please find some information with regards to our Club Championships to be played this year on the 19th and 26th of July 2024.
Please note you cannot book into a time zone for the first week as the first week starting order is in ascending order of players by handicap. Please just book in to play on HDID or the PSI..
Because of this No matches can be played.
For our Club Championship and Handicap Cup, your first week handicap will apply to both rounds.
However, for the Memorial Shield played in week two, your actual handicap on the day (26th of July) will apply.
Please remember to sign in for every round you play.
So anyone playing in the Club Championships, you MUST book and sign in on both Saturdays.
Sign in will be open from 6 am and you can sign in using the PSI terminal in the pro shop or your HDID app.
For the first week, on completion of your round, enter your score on the PSI or your HDID app and put your signed cards in the box.
For the second week follow the same protocol as the first week but hand your signed card to the scorer at the scoreboard in the garden, weather permitting.
The prize money for each of the two Club Championships has been increased to £125 for the winner and £75 for the runner-up. Each player can win only one of these prizes.
In the case of a tie for the win as Club Champion, a 18-hole play off followed by sudden death if necessary on a date to be decided will settle the tie.
All other ties are settled by countback after the second round.
The winner of the Memorial Shield (best nett second round score) will win £75, with the runner up winning £50. Countback will apply.
In week one, the field will go out in ascending handicap order, whereas in week two the leaders of the two Major's after round 1 will go out in reverse order as much as possible. (top 16 players in both the scratch and handicap competitions)
All players in the first week will commence from the First tee.
The second week we will use the 14th tee but only for those not in contention, or members not playing on the first week.
Please remember the competitions of both the Club Champion and Handicap Cup are two rounds of strokeplay.
If you think your ball may be lost YOU MUST play a provisional ball AT THAT POINT, whether it may be. You CANNOT return to a position and replay a shot.
If you do, you will be disqualified. There will be NO exceptions.
Gunmarsh, our resident bookies have declined to run a book on the result of the Handicap Cup this year, but would like to gauge the response to this among the members so please share your thoughts with either Mick or Richard.
