Annual Match Play
Seniors Vs Ladies
The annual Matchplay event between the Seniors and the Ladies took place on Monday 22 September in near perfect conditions as 10 fourball matches (20 ladies and 20 seniors) took to the course. The weather was beautiful, the course playing very well and the matches were played in a (mostly!!) very friendly spirit with the odd necessary amount of sledging! It was great fun! Afterwards we all enjoyed our usual sandwiches and chips (thank you to Paul and his team who always do a great job in looking after us so well).

As the results came in, it was clear the overall result was going to be very close and it went right to the wire with the ladies clinching the “Battle of the Sexes” Trophy as the final match was won by the ladies making the final score 5.5/4.5!! It is the first time the ladies have actually won the cup - the pink ribbons were missing, the joke being that they had been thrown away as the ladies never win! I am reliably informed that the seniors have had a 60% match win rate this season and were feeling rather confident of retaining the trophy prior to the match. However, last year Amanda and I had a cunning plan and proposed that the annual AMAM and the Matchplay events were switched round so that the Matchplay takes place in the Autumn - which seems to have paid off!!

Well played to all of the ladies and the seniors and thank you all for taking part in this fun tradition! Long may it continue! We really appreciate our two meetings with the seniors. Special thanks must go to Paul Farmer who did an excellent job in organising everything and ensuring all ran smoothly.
