Fellas,

The midweek Stableford 10 competition saw a tightly contested leaderboard, with Ian Lawton claiming victory and finishing top of the pack with 36points. Neil Webb secured second place, while Tom Green took third after a card playoff, both finishing on 33 points.

No 2's this week saw the prize money distributed as follows:
Ian Lawton £35
Neil Webb £25
Tom Green £15

The Vice Captain's Challenge proved to be a memorable occasion this year, with our vice captain, Brad Eardley, opting for the ever-popular Rainbow Scramble format. The choice led to some exceptionally low scores.
Emerging as the clear winners were Karl Brookfield, Tom Stevenson, Seth Brookfield, and Louis Hodgkinson, who stormed to victory with an impressive net 50. Their consistent play ensured they topped the field and each took home £30 in prize money.
Second place was secured by the team of Jordan Cotterell, Rich Abell, Gary Cottiga, and Nathan Cotterell, posting a commendable net 53. Their efforts were rewarded with a prize of £25 each.
Finishing in third place, Nick Lea, Martin Wainman, Mark Edwards, and Greg Magenheimer recorded a net 54, earning themselves £20 each for their 3rd place podium.
Congratulations to all participants for a fantastic day of golf and a great format chosen by our VC.

Finals day 9 holer

The finals day 9-hole event, while not regarded as the best format, proceeded with the summer knockout finalists leading the field. Looking ahead, this issue will be resolved for 2026, as a Saturday has been secured for next year’s knockout finals.
Over the nine holes, it was Ben Massey who came out on top, scoring 21 points and clinching victory after a card playoff against his mate, Hendo Muller secured second place on the same score, while John Watson achieved third place with 20 points.
Prize distribution was as follows: Ben Massey received £55, Muller took home £35, and John Watson collected £20. The only 2 was carded by Ben Massey—well played!

Summer Knock out finals

Moving on to the Wychwood Park summer knockouts 2025, the seniors handicap knockout saw Colin Price emerge victorious with a 2&1 win over Phil Holland—well played, Colin. In the Hendry handicap knockout, congratulations go to young Jack McCallum, who secured the title with a tight victory over our very own 'Pieminister', Jordan Cotterell. The Cooke pairs knockout final was won by John Aspinall and James Voce, also with a 2&1 win, overcoming Sam Williams and Luke Robinson. Well played to all the finalists—it’s a proper slog to reach the final, so a great achievement in itself.

Unfortunately, the scratch final will be contested tomorrow, as James Voce has impressively reached two finals this year, a first that I can remember. Fortunately, both finalists have been very accommodating in rescheduling, ensuring the match will go ahead without delay.

The summer knockout finals, the prize money was allocated as follows: the semi finalists, Karl Brookfield and Seth Brookfield, along with John Hough and Dave Buckley, each received £20.50. Runners-up Sam Williams and Luke Robinson collected £61.50 each, while the winners, James Voce and John Aspinall, took home £102.50 apiece.

In the Hendry handicap category, losing semi-finalists Rob Henry and Paul Wilson were awarded £29 each. The runner-up, Jordan Cotterell, received £87, and the winner, Jack McCallum, claimed the top prize of £145.
Prizes will be sent at the end of September.

Daily Mail greensomes Sunday with an additional prize going to the winners to represent the club in the Daily Mail foursomes.

Cheers
