COURSE NEWS 28th SEPTEMBER
Light Frosts
It’s autumn, in weather terms. The greens team are coming in to (light) frosts almost every morning: couple that with some heavy dews it means they often can’t do anything on the greens before 08:00. They can’t be cut until later in the day in any case because the moisture causes any dressing still on the surface to build up on machinery and leave clumps on the surface.

All the tees have been solid tined, as have the approaches. Tees have also been sprayed with a light feed with some added iron. The new tees have been solid tined and dressed. The course is still very dry - most of the heavy rain last weekend would have washed straight off rather than soaking into the surface.

Gavin is rotovating the space to the left of the 9th, and behind the 15th, tees in preparation for the Environmental group to plant out with the wild flowers which they have been growing over the summer. Don’t expect a riot of colour - wild flowers tend to be rather drab and inconspicuous, but they are important for local biodiversity.

Tee levelling and resurfacing is scheduled to be done during week commencing October 20. They will then be out of action until next Spring.
