Junior Celebration Event 2025
Over a 100 joined in to celebrate our young golfers
The clubhouse was full on Friday 28th November with families, friends and supporters of our Junior section.
Over a hundred joined in to celebrate the success that our young golfers achieved during 2025.
The club cups were awarded to our club winners and each champion was given a personalised glass trophy, that had been engraved with their achievement, to keep.
As we worked our way through the year, we also acknowledged the success of our golfers at Opens and Suffolk County competitions. Max Elliot won the scratch Open at Southwold. Max Leuty won the 9 hole Open at Halesworth in July. Harry Page won the Rookery Park Open in August. We also had several players achieving second place, and so making a great impact around the area, representing Gorleston Golf Club.
Both Max Leuty and Riley Finch entered qualifiers and both successfully won their matches.
Max played in the final of UK Kids for Golf at Whittlebury Park, where he won and so goes forward to Loch Erne in Northern Ireland in July 2026.
Riley won his qualifier at Sherringham for the Race to Woodhall Spa, which he played in August and came in third.
In September Herbie Shaw-Clutten won the 2025 Suffolk Junior Open series and was awarded the Order of Merit.
We also celebrated the fantastic Super Six squad, who became the 2025 winners of North Suffolk County.
All amazing achievements by a group of hard working youngsters supported by their parents and families throughout the year.
Our incoming Captain, Harrison Young, was welcomed by all present and applauded for the splendid job of presenting the awards and cups.
Luca Devine-Rushbrooke was announced as Vice Captain and will take on the role of Junior Captain in 2027.
On behalf of the junior committee I would like to thank all that have helped us including our sponsors, friends who have ball spotted in our competitions, and the golfers who have played with our young players in the weekend competitions.
The Richard Hunt Foundation has been a main factor in our success and all of our junior members thank Julie, Tommy and Annie Hunt for their continued support.
