Christmas Open Winners 2025
What A Day!
The Christmas Open 2025.
The day started with torrential rain but just as the first group headed to the tee the rain stopped and thankfully it stayed dry and mild all day.
Although wet underfoot everyone had a great time and commented how good the course was in particular the greens and surrounds. Due to the weather we reduced the competition to 15 holes to speed up play.
Mulled wine and a mince pie after nine holes followed by Turkey baps and chips after play it was certainly a day of festive cheer and it was great to see so many dressing up.
Now for the main event... the results.
Dave Preston and his friends from Bridgnorth picked up the mixed prize. Ken Gee and the Wolvo lads landed 4th, whilst Ken Lewis and his merry men picked up third spot. Paul Judge and his team of athletes were at one points 10 under par through 9 holes and posted a score that many thought would win. However it was only good enough for 2nd place.
Roger Turley and his team have played this event every year since it started over 15 years ago. They have never quite got the win but this time it changed and they took top spot by one shot.
Roger a big friend of the club had this to say
'Driving over we questioned if the day would go ahead. I must thank the green keepers and the pro shop team for getting the day on, the greens were some of the best iv played on all year especially when we kept holing putts. It feels great to finally win it, we will see you all next year'.
