General Play Scores
Refresher on how to process General Play Scores
General Play Scores

As of Friday 27 March, fairway mats are no longer in use - and the course reverts from our winter layout to the full measured course. Therefore, members are now able to register General Play rounds for handicapping purposes.

Here’s a reminder of what to do:

You must register a score intent before you play. This means registering your intention to submit a 9- or 18-hole score using either the MyEG app, the howdidido app or the touchscreen in the pro shop or in the clubhouse.

If you are unsure how to use these apps or the touchscreen, please ask a member of the pro shop staff or in the office. A helpful fellow member may even be able to help too!

When submitting a General Play score, you must nominate an attester - this is the marker/playing partner who is witnessing your score. If you don’t have an attester selected, your score won't be verified properly.

You must return this scorecard with a score in all the holes you registered to play (9 or 18). If you fail to finish a hole this should be scored as Played Hole But Did Not Complete. If for some reason you did not play a hole at all, this hole should be scored as Did Not Play. Under WHS rules, there should be a valid reason for a Did Not Play score - hole closed/injury/emergency etc. The pro shop/office should be notified as to the reason that a hole was marked as Did Not Play.

Player responsibilities, as listed in Appendix A of the World Handicap System (WHS) Rules of Handicapping, include:

· Attempt to make the best score possible at each hole.
· Ensure all acceptable scores are submitted for handicap purposes in order to provide reasonable evidence of your demonstrated ability.
· Submit scores as soon as possible after the round is completed.

Failure to return valid complete cards will result in penalty rounds added to a member's WHS record. Repeat offenders, in both General Play and Medals/Stablefords, run the risk of handicap suspension.
