Aberdovey Golf Club welcomed Edgbaston Golf Club on Saturday for the opening match of the new season, enjoying a day that showcased the club at its finest.

Played in excellent spirit, the fixture featured a blend of new players and established members on both sides. Under sunny conditions and with the course in outstanding shape, it was a fitting start to the golfing calendar.

The matches themselves were closely fought throughout. Vice Captain, Gary and I had a great tussle with Mike Ward, EGC Captain, and Tim Clarke but succumbed to a 2&1 defeat - giving shots away was tough!

That said, and despite several tight games, Aberdovey emerged as convincing winners overall, securing a 7½ to 4½ victory - an ideal opening result for the season!

The day concluded with an enjoyable evening of food and hospitality, made possible thanks to the efforts of the team of staff throughout and my thanks go to all.

With both newcomers and seasoned players contributing, we’re off to a winning start - long may it continue!
