Ashford Golf Club celebrated a proud tradition on Sunday 10th May as members gathered to welcome Gary and Carol into their captaincy year with the annual Captains’ Drive-In.
Under overcast spring skies and a fantastic clubhouse atmosphere, both captains stepped onto the 18th tee to hit their ceremonial opening drives. With members watching from the balcony and cheering them on, Gary and Carol each sent their tee shots sailing towards the 18th green — a fitting start to what promises to be an exciting year ahead.
This year’s captains have chosen to support their own charities Swallows Neck and throat and young minds, and the Drive-In event helped raise valuable funds to kickstart their fundraising efforts. The generosity and enthusiasm shown by the membership once again highlighted the strong community spirit that defines Ashford Golf Club.
