Hampshire Seven-a-side Match
Match v St Clement's - Saturday 2nd May 2026
The Club's opening match in this year's County Sevens Knockout Championship, was played in breezy conditions with the likelihood of rain, thunder and lightning!

Royal Jersey secured wins in the first two matches courtesy of Philip Grehan and William Stratford, the latter making his debut. The aforementioned thundery conditions materialised - to biblical proportions!! Following the inevitable weather delay, play resumed and matches three and four followed with 1 hole losses on the 18th for Stephen McGinness, also making his debut, and Bob O’Brien leaving the match tied at 2-2.

Men's Captain Mat Hague fell to a 2&1 loss having given away a lot of shots to his opponent. A strong performance from Mark Wanless, winning 4&3, levelled the match at 3-3.

The final match was won by Chris Huelin with a great run of holes after the delay and winning the last hole for a 2up victory.

The Club will play the Jersey final in June against the winners of Les Ormes and Les Mielles.

Captain Dan Burchell would like to thank all the players, caddies and members who supported the team on the day.
