Hot Weather, Buggies and Slow Play
It's warm - don't suffer, don't use equipment you aren't entitled to and don't make other groups stay out in it longer than they need to!
In periods of hot weather, we will adopt a slightly more relaxed approach to players walking off the course if they feel affected by the heat. Welfare comes first, and players are encouraged to prioritise hydration and personal well-being at all times.
Buggies remain available in competition conditions strictly on medical exemption grounds only. Any player or group found to be using a buggy without a valid exemption risks disqualification from the competition.
Pace of play remains a priority for everyone’s enjoyment. We ask all players to be mindful and take simple steps to keep the course moving efficiently. Ready golf should be played wherever it is safe to do so, with players hitting when prepared rather than strictly adhering to honour.
On approaching the green, position bags or trolleys on the exit side nearest to the next tee to enable a prompt departure. Players should move to the next tee before completing scorecard entries, rather than marking cards on the green just finished.
If a score can no longer contribute to your card, players are encouraged to pick up and move on without delay. Just mark the card as whatever the lowest non-scoring gross would be as that is all that England Golf will give you! Or 'Played but did not score!'.
Provisional balls should be played wherever there is any doubt over a lost ball to avoid unnecessary return walks. Ball searches should be kept within the allowed three minutes and managed efficiently.
Groups are expected to keep up with the group in front, not just stay ahead of the group behind. If a group falls behind and cannot recover position, they should invite faster players or groups through, whether in a competition or general play. Courtesy and awareness of others on the course are key to maintaining an enjoyable experience for all.
