Over £50,000 Raised in Carlisle Golf Club's Big Golf Race
Sunday 14th June was a memorable day at Carlisle Golf Club as members came together to take part in the Big Golf Race, raising vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK.
Golfers of all ages and abilities took on the challenge, completing anything from 18 holes to an incredible 100 holes in a single day. The event was a fantastic success, showcasing not only determination on the course but also the incredible community spirit that makes our club so special.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who played their part. From the players who took on the challenge, to the caddies, the halfway house team, those working tirelessly behind the scenes, and the supporters who walked the course and cheered everyone on throughout the day – every contribution helped make the event such a success.
Special recognition must also go to Liam Burns, whose dedication and hard work from the very beginning were instrumental in bringing the event together.
There were plenty of remarkable achievements throughout the day. Congratulations to Oscar Gilligan, who completed an astonishing 100 holes at just 12 years old, Brian Allen, who also completed 100 holes in just over 11 hours, and Anne Nichol, who completed 36 holes at the age of 84. A special mention goes to Ian Manley, who recorded a hole-in-one on his 53rd hole of the day, while Andrew Wolstencroft produced a phenomenal performance, finishing an incredible 18 under par across his 100 holes.
Thanks to the outstanding efforts and generosity of everyone involved, the event has raised over £50,000 for Prostate Cancer UK. It is a remarkable achievement and one that everyone at Carlisle Golf Club can be immensely proud of.
Thank you to everyone who supported this fantastic cause.
