Apologies for the delay in getting this out, but I had a very busy Weekend, with the Presidents Day followed by two days at the Senior Captains Away Trip at the Warwickshire. Just wanted to say a massive thanks to everyone who played in the Presidents Day on Saturday, a great turnout of 92 players and apart from my Golf, I had a great time, playing in the Club Presidents team with Rob Hendry, Martin Wainman and Mark Hallam. It was great to see the number of players who wore their team colours and a massive, massive thanks for your generosity in donating to the Samaritans Charity on the day. I believe with post event donations, we have now raised £800 for the Samaritans which will help the local branch no end. The Winning team were Steve Wilde, Jeremy Poole. Saj Hashmi and Thomas Knibbs with a great score of 103, with all scores counting on the par 3's the 11 points on the 11th helped no end. In second place wasthe team of Matt Cheffins, Scott Taylor, Nigel Edwards and Gary Pickford who came in with 100 points. 3rd place went to Simon Edgerton, Andy Young, Peter Curtis-Brown and Colin Garside with 99 points. A creditable 4th place went to the Seniors Captains team, Phil Holland, Andrew Marr, Brian Trenbirth and Eric Wills with 98 points. Longest Drive went to Dave "Shamoo" Edwards, Straighest Drive went to Chris Brayne and nearest the pins on the par 3's went to Jordan Cotterell, George Botham, Jeremy Poole and Warren Collins. Nearest the pin in two on the 15th went to our Club Captain, Brad Eardley. The feedback I have received was positive and it looks like everyone enjoyed the day, but if anyone has any thoughts on any improvements we can make for next year, please let me know. Please try and support the Captains Away day at Brocton hall on the 11h September, there are still places left and the Charity Ball on the 24th October. ....and for Team USA, the Ryder Cup is just around the corner, so start honing your games for what is going to be a monumental victory agains Team Europe!!!!
