Corhampton Finish Top Four in Hampshire
What a fantastic achievement for Corhampton GC, with our County 7’s team reaching finals day for the first time in nearly 20 years
Finals Day brought together some of the best golfers in the county, and our team took on two incredibly tough matches under immense pressure. The semi-final against Lee-on-the-Solent was a difficult morning, but the team bounced back brilliantly in the 3rd/4th place playoff against Les Ormes, missing out in a closely fought match. 36 Holes of intense Match Play (37 for some!) around a beautiful Arlesford Golf Course is no mean feat in one day. Special mention to Glyn Knaresborough and Captain Steven Griffin, who both went unbeaten across the two matches. Also to Simon Hobbs who stepped aside in the afternoon, allowing Gary Mason to play his last competitive match as Corhampton Club Captain at finals day - that's what being a team is all about. But ultimately, this was about much more than individual results. The team camaraderie, support and determination throughout the day was fantastic, with everyone representing Corhampton with real pride. To make it to Finals Day and finish 4th out of 64 clubs is something the whole club should be incredibly proud of. A brilliant experience of high-pressure matchplay golf against some of the county's best players, and one that will undoubtedly make this team stronger for the future. Griffin on golf has a nice write up on our history in the competition and route to the final this year: https://buff.ly/hncXRHq Well played, lads!
